  • Module 1: How to map out your season in TrainingPeaks (14 minutes)
    • How to select events to attend
      • What events are local?
      • Any events that you just want to do because they look amazing or you’ve followed them for a while?
      • What are you strengths / weaknesses versus a particular course?
      • What is your team doing?
      • Good opportunity for points (big races that suit you)
      • Aligns with family trip/travel
  • Module 2: Identify Proper phases of training and their timelines (12 minutes)
    • What are the phases of training and timelines and how to handle big gaps between events.
      • Base / Build / Pre-Race / Competition Phase
    • If your big events are far apart, how do you handle that?
  • Module 3: How to figure out Big Picture Training Goals (15 minutes)
    • How do you know what you need to work on?
      • Intuitively ask: where do I struggle?
        • Surges / End of races / Making the break / Hanging in the break / Racing with the next category up / Skills / Cyclocross / MTB / Aerodynamics / Weight / Lift weights
      • What do the metrics say?
        • Modeled VO2max
        • Is vlamax or FRC off for what you want to accomplish?
        • Where does FTP sit?
        • What efforts are most related to your racing?
        • How is cardiac drift on endurance rides?
        • What is low lying fruit for most impact and can create the most bang for your training buck?
        • When to double down on strengths
        • Weaknesses: don’t have any “2’s”....9, 7, 7, 6
  • Module 4: How do you want to win…think 2-5 years and through the categories (18 minutes)
    • What exhilarates you in a race? The final sprint, getting in a breakaway, all day in the break, late race getaway?
    • How to select what intervals to do
      • Threshold / Vo2max / Muscular development / Anaerobic training / Sprints / Endurance / Recovery rides
    • What to do when no power
  • Module 5: How to know if you completed the intervals correctly (11 minutes)
    • Tips on how to analyze a file in TrainingPeaks Free Software
    • How to monitor ATL, CTL, TSB - and what’s missing (RPE, feelings)
